Director of Online Learning, Teaching and Learning

Job summary

The Director of Online Learning leads the strategic development and implementation of online learning initiatives, championing the integration of digital resources and continuous improvement of educational technology practices. Working closely with the Teaching & Learning Team, this role provides leadership in online learning initiatives for the district by creating, sharing, and communicating policies, resources, and best practices. Furthermore, this role is responsible for leading the LifePlus Online Academy, fostering a positive, caring learning environment that expands course catalogues, addresses staffing challenges, and promotes digital literacy with online course and program options.

This role involves:

1. Develop and implement a comprehensive multi-year strategy for digital learning, integrating transformational learning principles and leveraging partnerships for growth.
2. Provide leadership to the Online Academy.
3. Drive the integration of educational technology tools and resources to enhance teaching and learning outcomes, including training personnel and ensuring adherence to technology standards, strengthen relationships, develop goodwill, and identify opportunities for collaboration and growth.
4. Foster collaboration with internal and external organizations and stakeholders to advance digital education initiatives.
5. Act as an instructional leader, providing coaching, mentoring, and evaluation support to educators while promoting innovative teaching practices aligned with organizational goals.
6. Direct appropriate use of district-wide digital educational programs, platforms, and assessments in accordance with organizational policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
7. Evaluate the effectiveness of district-wide digital programs, assessments, and practices through data analysis, feedback mechanisms, conducting observations, and providing timely feedback for continuous improvement.
8. Develop and deliver training programs and resources for educators on digital platforms, programs, assessments, and instructional technologies, promoting best practices and enhancing digital literacy.
9. Collaborate with organizational leaders and teams to align digital learning strategies with overall objectives, supporting the integration of innovative teaching and learning practices across the organization.
10. Serve as a key member of the Teaching and Learning Team in supporting the overall direction of continuous improvement for LifePlus Schools. Attend weekly Teaching and Learning Team meetings remotely as directed and in-person Teaching and Learning Team meetings twice annually.
11. Carries out other duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the supervisor(s).

Qualifications and requirements

1. Maintain a healthy and integrated lifestyle that embraces faith with high standards of professionalism.
2. Has a strong understanding of, and passion for, LifePlus’ vision, mission and strategy.
3. Has a minimum of 5 years of experience in a teaching role and a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
4. A Masters’ degree in a related field or in educational administration is preferred.
5. Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
6. Ability to plan and communicate strategically, with a proven track record of making strategic decisions that drive organizational growth and innovation.
7. Detail-oriented. Can synthesize information and turn it into practical steps.
8. Proficiency in educational technology tools and platforms, including experience with a commitment to staying updated on new technologies
9. Can influence, inspire and motivate others.
10. Can work collaboratively in a team to plan, organize, execute and evaluate educational programming, including teacher development and curricular development.
